jiehi cover

Journal of Social Inclusion (JSI) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Regional Board of the Muhammadiyah Students Association (DPD IMM) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Indonesia.

Rooted in IMM’s core pillars of intellectualism and humanity, JOSI serves as a progressive academic forum dedicated to exploring, analyzing, and promoting social inclusion. The journal provides a space for scholars, researchers, activists, and students to publish original research and critical reviews that address social exclusion, marginalization, and the systemic barriers faced by vulnerable communities

Focus and Scope

JOSI welcomes multidisciplinary perspectives—spanning sociology, education, social work, public policy, and religious studies—that contribute to building a more equitable society. The journal primarily focuses on the following themes:

  • Inclusive Education & Social Justice: Equal access to quality education, inclusive school management, and educational strategies for individuals with disabilities or marginalized backgrounds.

  • Social Movements & Youth Activism: The dynamics of student movements, civil society organizations, and youth leadership in advocating for structural reforms and public policy changes.

  • Socio-Religious Dynamics & Inclusivity: Theological and practical frameworks within religion—particularly Islam Berkemajuan (Progressive Islam)—that foster tolerance, equity, and the empowerment of minority or vulnerable groups.

  • Community Empowerment & Resilience: Innovative social interventions, grassroot economic initiatives, and community-based disaster mitigation strategies that enhance local resilience.

Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. This ensures that the identity of both the authors and the reviewers remain confidential throughout the evaluation. Manuscripts are assessed based on their originality, methodological soundness, clarity of argument, and contribution to the field of social inclusion.

Publication Frequency

The Journal of Social Inclusion is published twice a year (semi-annually), providing consistent and timely dissemination of contemporary social research.
